Okay so I started this poll to get members talking about my favorite format: EDH! (Commander)
many people play for different reasons and I thought it might be fun to share thoughts and ideas!
i love both competitive and non competitive EDH and I believe there is a place for both and that both groups of players can all agree that we love this format!
so let the conversation begin! :)S

Well jeez you poked a one of my buttons that makes me ponder my life choices. I have to say...No. Always more fun to play against Group Hug; Chaos; Superfriends; Polotics; and 5 color Karona

Personally, I much prefer casual EDH, and I feel that making competitive decks in a format that was meant to be casual is a bit obnoxious. I've been known to get salty over Noah's competitive commander decks, lol. It was bound to happen though, people breaking EDH. What, with all the possibilities, a spike just can't resist.
I'm okay with competitive EDH as long as all decks in the game are near the same level, don't bring a gun to a shiv war, you know?

I'm a fan of competitive play, so I like a good 1v1 competitive game of EDH. It meshes competitive play with a casual deck and makes me very happy haha. Granted, the price tag on "competitive" EDH lands doesn't make me happy...

Well I guess it is nice to have the competitiveness sometimes, but it feels too expensive and not as fun.

EDH is my bread and butter, baby! Gimme dat stack of 100 singleton cards, and I'm one happy camper! It's all about the fun, and I'm all about it. I think I've said "no" to an edh game once in my entire life, and it was only because the game store was closing in 2 minutes and no one wanted to come with me to take the EDH somewhere else! jerks!

Love myself some EDH. My playgroup is SUPER casual though... like to the point where I've seen people using vanilla creatures. Basically no matter what I try to build fairly ends up being something that utterly crushes everyone else except for a couple of my friends that are actually playing like a legit Sharuum deck and whatnot... Which only makes me want to take my deck to its full potential! Oh well, Ill figure it out eventually. Either way, I enjoy the format.

I play both 1v1 (French) and 4 player pods (normal EDH rules) tournaments. Does anybody else consider themselves to be tournament players?
I also have played 12 player planechase chaos games with my happy hippo hug deck that took ALL day so I understand the meaning of FUN!

Also, I kinda wish we had tournaments. I'd like to actually compete with EDH a bit.

I don't think anyone else (that isn't a Johnny) would come up with such a janky 5-card combo involving Second Sunrise, High Market, and Zuran Orb to generate infinite landfall triggers after you've fetched all your lands with Karametra. Unfortunately for me, my shop isn't competitive enough for me to play Armageddon. =P

I love EDH, having just discovered it less than a year ago. It is what casual wants to be....a place to use cool old cards but with enough variance that you never know exactly how it will play out (see above conversation about overly competitive decks...I would like it if tutors were banned or limited in some way to increase variance, actually).
Also, it is the most fun to brew for, since you can build a billion different decks; much creativity.
Edit: I have problems in that I play with some super competitive people and some who arn't, some who want 1v1 and some who want multiplayer...makes it hard to tune a deck correctly (no nuclear bombs to knife fights, as you said above).

Lol that sounds fun though. My favorite thing is going {Tooth and Nail} into {Purphoros, God of the Forge} with {Doubling Season} and {Goblin Bombardment} out haha

It was better in my Rafiq of the Many deck for obvious reasons, but Sublime Archangel was one of the best cards in my very first deck, so I really couldn't drop it lol

I am glad that the discussion is going well Tooth and nail into... I dunno Kiki Jiki and Pestermite is usually table flipping ... Even in tournament play But tooth and nail into vorinclex and honoring dust drinker... Oh wait, still table flipping.. How about.. Tooth and nail into mikaeus the unhallowed and triskelion? Dang it I am bad at this... Okay I get the problem with mismatching decks, which is why I always have so many on me! I will always play the weakest/nicest first and if someone wants to be super competitive I can easily go there as well And if everyone is just getting started even my really weak decks (in my opinion) would usually reck them, so I play happy hippo hug - my hug has no wincon, just enables really fun games

My local store has a rule that you can only do an infinite combo five times per turn. That means that kiki jiki is still good, but not "here are two cards that say 'I win'"

I just discovered edh about 6 months ago and only made my first powerful deck in January, and it's already my favorite format. My playgroup has all started playing in the past few months and I'm pushing all of them to work on edh decks, which most of them have planned.

EDH is the only format left that is reminiscent of the 'good ol days' for me. Where a game lasted longer than 6 turns, you could have a grand ol chin wag and you had to 'save up' for that spell in your hand. Yep, there can be only one. Meanwhile, the tumble weeds speak for themselves so far in the last option in the poll
