So, I decided to take the plunge today and fully become everything that is "wrong" with America. On the left, you will see my obviously very aggressive pit bull pup (named Serra) and on the right is my very much murderous DPMS AR-15. For realsies, though, I adopted this puppy a couple months ago and she is already the best dog I've ever had. I'm also taking the AR out to the range this weekend or next to put a few rounds through it. So stoked! Just thought I'd share what I got today . Anyone else own a pitty or shoot for fun? I've been a big pit person for months now (working at a shelter will do that to ya!) and this'll be the first time I've ever actually owned a firearm! Attachments:

That's a beautiful dog. The first thing I'm going to when I get a house is adopt a big dog (bull terrier if possible.) I love my maltese but I want a dog I can rough house with.

See, the thing about pits? They're not violent. They're loyal to a fault and VERY needy. So few are ready to handle that Congrats on your new friend, good sir

Can I just take a moment to say pit bulls aren't even a real breed? Most pitties are generally Staffordshire Terriers mixed with another dog like the American Bulldog. That being said your dog is absolutely gorgeous and my staffy was one of the best dogs I have ever had. Besides my blue tick coon hound that is. Also why did you choose the AR15? Definetly a reliable gun and one of my favorites. Just curious.

Haha I actually adopted Serra several months ago, but decided I'd show off her and my newest purchase all at once . That's always been the kicker for me; people claim that pits are the worst breed ever, but don't even realize that there is no definitive "pit bull." It's just a VERY broad generalization. But, without doing bloodwork, that shitty generalization is the closest I've got to depicting her breed. I've had a "toy" dog (Italian Greyhound) for years and years, and I've found that it is a blast having a dog that can wrestle back with me. Granted, I've got about 600% more scars from Serra than I ever got from the iggy As to the AR: Ever since I can remember, I've loved the M16/M4 style rifle, so I figured I'd go for something similar, then when the possibility of buying one became a reality, I did some research and found out that there really wasn't a reason to not buy one. Never heard anything bad, and my brother is in the Guard and said he can work the ARs easier than anything else. He's pretty much been my guide to purchasing a weapon, seeing as he has spent the last 5 years looking down the sights of an M4

Also, cb, thanks! I adopted her when she was six months, and I can now say from experience that you're never really ready for a puppy haha. She has been a lot of work. Because she would be classified as a pit, I've been really trying to work on things like "down" and "no" so she won't jump on some kid and a terrified mom will call in a "pit bull attack" or something stupid like that. She's been a lot of fun to work worth! Loyal and extremely intelligent! Potty trained after a week and a half, able to sit, shake, and lie down after a couple months! Sorry guys! I know I'm a bit long-winded tonight

I know I'm a bit long-winded tonight ? That's the glory of unpopular breeds. They can be absolutely brilliant animals, especially if it's a crossbreed. It's why I prefer mutts to purebreds; all that inbreeding messes the poor dogs up like crazy

I absolutely love pits. They are perceived as mean but in my experience, some of the sweetest dogs I've even seen were pits. I think the main reason they have the highest number of bites is because they, as a muscular and "menacing" looking dog, they are attractive to aggressive people. You know what they say, dogs act like their owners.
She is beautiful!

I looked up the numbers some time ago, but I've forgotten what they were. I know it was a massive difference, though. That just the way it works. Quadruple the number of black labs being adopted out, and chances are that the bite rate will shoot up as well. The general populace is good at overlooking the important factors haha. To be fair though, I would absolutely take being attacked by a lab over some kind of pit simply because they are basically just pure muscle. I can definitely see why people would be afraid of them. Not saying it's right, just that I could see their reasoning, I guess.
